We’ve all had one of those days when we’re lost in thinking as life magnifies every misstep in an unforgiving manner. In her story, “Donuts,” Kimberly Moore takes that premise for a darkly funny and at times cringeworthy ride, while in “The Mourners” by Dennis Vannatta, the related theme of a wake-up call from life takes a decidedly more sobering tone.
In our poetry section, Pragya Vishnoi’s refreshing and vivid poem, “Devotions” calls us to the radiance of life, assuring us that “The cure to light is always more light.” You can also travel landscapes of paradox and surrealism as poets Gary Mesick and Peter Leight paint vibrant characters with their mis-timed clocks and enigmatic, smiling felines. Along with these newcomers to our magazine, we’re grateful to welcome back for a third appearance, internationally-renowned author Marge Piercy.
